It is always a busy time at the school. Be sure to check our list below of ongoing and upcoming events and activities so you don’t miss a thing:

Upcoming Events:

Parent Teacher Interviews – Nov 15 – 18

Parents are encouraged to meet with their child’s teacher to find out how they are doing so far this school year. (Progress reports for students went out last week)

But what questions should you ask in only a 15 minute interview?

People for Education have put together a great tip sheet that we hope will help you navigate this very important meeting

Scholastic Book Fair – Nov 15 – 18 in the library. Drop in before or after your interview
PA Day – Nov 18 – no school
School Council Meeting – Wednesday, Nov 23 at 6:30pm

Next FRIDAY is Movie Night!

MOVIE NIGHT INFO:
When: Friday, November 25th doors open at 5:30pm, movies start @ 6:15pm
What: Santa Clause 3 – in the Gym (see trailer below)
Winne the Pooh (2011) – in the Library
Cost: $3 per person
Concession Stand: Pizza (first come first serve) $2/slice, plus fresh popcorn, drinks, chips

REMINDER: A parent or adult (18+) must be in attendance to supervise children. This is NOT a drop off event. Student arriving without adult supervision will not be admitted.

Halloween Movie Night 2011

This FRIDAY is Movie Night!

MOVIE NIGHT INFO:
When: Friday, October 28th doors open at 5:30pm, movies start @ 6:15pm
What: Smurfs – in the Gym (see trailer below)
Monsters Inc – in the Library
Cost: $3 per person
Concession Stand: Pizza (first come first serve) $2/slice, plus fresh popcorn, drinks, chips

It’s Halloween movie night so kids can wear their Halloween costumes (but no weapon accessories allowed).

REMINDER: A parent or adult (18+) must be in attendance to supervise children. This is NOT a drop off event. Student arriving without adult supervision will not be admitted.

Lunch Programs have begun

The Jockvale Lunch Program kicked off last week. As always in the beginning of the program there can be a few wrinkles in the class lists and the order lists.
If your child is in class and has not been handed out their pizza or hot dog as they expected, please let them know to check the list again and then ask the duty teacher. Our parent volunteers are in the school during the lunch programs and will make sure that your child receives their order. If for some reason the exact item they ordered is not available our volunteers will make sure that your child is fed lunch, even if it’s cheese pizza instead of pepperoni.
Making sure the orders for over 400 students are correct and delivered can have a few bumps. We appreciate your understanding.

Please remember this entire program is organized and run by parent volunteers.

Welcome 2011

All Parents are invited to our first School Council meeting for 2011/2012

Our first meeting is: Wednesday September 21st @ 6:30-8pm
Jockvale School Library ~ Childcare is available (for children 3+). Please join us after the meet the teacher event.

As well as hosting our regular meeting, that evening we will be holding our annual elections. We are looking for volunteers to help us fill the following positions:

Secretary
Volunteer Coordinator
Treasurer
Communication’s chair
OCASC Rep
Members at Large

Whether you are interested in coming to learn more about what’s happening at Jockvale and meeting some other parents, or becoming more involved by volunteering, we hope to see you there!!

Remember school begins Tuesday, September 6 @ 8:30 am (and Thursday, September 8 @8:30 am for Senior kindergarten, Monday, September 12 @ 8:30 for Junior kindergarten (with a staggered day the week before)).
